Art in the Blog

Last Monday I was treated to a great exhibit, Art in the Streets, at the MOCA Geffen by no other than Banksy! Every Monday, until August 8th, Banksy is sponsoring free admission to this fabulous exhibit. So if you have a Monday off and you're in the LA area, make the trek over to Little Tokyo and pay the $8 parking for Art in the Streets

With your free admission ticket in hand, make your way up the ramp to the left of the entrance. Once at the top gallery, your lesson begins here. The timeline explores the decades of street art and its major milestones from one end of the gallery to the other, commencing in the year 2010 and the docu-movie Exit Through the Gift Shop. The rooms in between represent some of the most influential movements and artists in street art's history. As to be expected, the great crowd pleasers are Shepard Fairey and Banksy--with installations, wall art and stencils. If you keep an eye out, you'll spot the groups of Space Invader fans wandering the Geffen trying to find hidden tiled characters at every turn.

Location:
The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA
152 North Central Avenue
Los Angeles, California 90013

So, sit back and enjoy a few highlights...
